19. Converting Logos from Color to Black & White in PowerPoint
PPT 2007 | PPT 2003
If you are a designer who works with PowerPoint or a Presenter who works with Presentation designers, this tip is for you.
Next time you need to insert a logo, whether it be color, black, or white, create (or ask for) a .png file of the color version. Make sure the background is transparent. Once the inserted image is selected, a red "Picture Tools" tab appears on the ribbon. Select the "Format" tab directly below it.
On the far left of the "Format" ribbon, there is a set of six tools to edit your image. By clicking either the "Brightness" or "Contrast" buttons, a drop down menu appears with a "Picture Corrections Options" Button on the bottom. Click on the "Picture Corrections Options" to bring up the "Format Picture" Window.
Alternatively, you can right click on the image, and select "Format Picture" on the menu that appears. That will also bring you to the "Format Picture" window.
If you would rather the logo be black, then decrease the logo's brightness to 0%. If you would rather it be white, then increase your logo's brightness to 100%.
Now if you need this logo in other presentations or to alter last minute, whether color, black, or white it can be easily changed.
