07. Set Transparent Color Tool - Remove a Color from a Picture
PPT 2007 | PPT 2003

The knockout tool is one of my personal favorites. When wanting an image to blend into the background or the superimposing of two images this tool will come in very handy.
Select your image, then click the "Format" tab on the ribbon. On the far left are several tools for editing the image. Click the "Recolor" button, and a dropdown menu will open. On the bottom of the menu is a "Set Transparent Color" button. That is the knockout tool. To use this tool, select the image; then select the tool; finally click on the color of choice that you wish to remove from an image.
Points to Remember:
The Knockout tool will only remove 1 color per image. You may find that it does not work well if the images original background is a sharp contrast to your PowerPoint background. Lastly, it may remove more of the image than you wish. It doesn't hurt to try and with experience you will quickly learn when to use it and when not to.
